Cheryl Cole Is UK’s Most Influential Beauty – a new survey has revealed that the UK’s most influential female beauty icon is singer and new X Factor judge Cheryl Cole.

The new survey asked 1000 women which celebrity most influenced their choice of beauty products and Cheryl came out top of the list with an incredible 80% of the women surveyed admitting to buying the same beauty products used by their favourite celebrities in an attempt to pull off the same look.

It also seems that money is no object when it comes to recreating your favourite celeb’s red carpet make-up as a quarter of those surveyed admitted to spending up to £80 on an individual cosmetic item that a celebrity had either endorsed or admitted to using in their beauty regime. On top of this an additional 60 women actually admitted that they would spend as much as £200 on a single beauty product if they believed it would make them look like the celebrity who used it.

On average the total spent by women looking to capture that celeb beauty icon look was £312. This and the fact that most women (75%) said they would go straight out and buy a new beauty product that their beauty icon had posted about on Twitter or any other social media site must have the cosmetic company marketeers rubbing their hands with glee.

As well as those selling the beauty products there is also a strong market for beauty instructional products with a number of blogs and video sites that offer help to “look like …” having large followings. For instance one site offering instruction in how to get the Cheryl Cole look has already attracted around 3/4m hits and this figure is still rising.

The Most Misheard Lyrics Of All Time – a new survey reveals the most often misheard lyrics of all time.

ABBA

The survey conducted by Blinkbox, the online streaming service, also asked the 2k people they interviewed to say which singer they found hardest to understand.

As far as the individual songs go the most often misheard lyric was from Dancing Queen by ABBA, with nearly a quarter of all those surveyed hearing the lyrics as “See that girl, watch her scream, kicking the dancing queen” rather than the correct lyric of “See that girl, watch that scene, diggin’ the dancing queen”.

Scariest Movies and Scariest Movie Scenes – a survey has rated the scariest movies and scariest movie scenes of all-time by using scientific data.

After conducting a survey amongst 10k customers to find out what they thought were the most frightening movies Play.com then fitted heart rate monitors to cinema-goers to discover which scene in these movies caused the biggest spike in their heart rate.

The Top 10 Scariest Movies are pretty much what most movie fans would expect with appearances for classics such as The Exorcist, A Nightmare On Elm Street and The Silence Of The Lambs. However it is director Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel The Shining which comes out on top as the scariest movie based on the reactions of cinema audiences.

The overall scariest movie scene turns out to be where Jack Nicholson’s character Jack Torrance utters that classic horror film line “Here’s Johnny” as he smashes down a door with an axe.

For several very scary scenes you may wish to pick A Nightmare On Elm Street or The Exorcist for your horror movie night in as they have a number of heart rate raising scenes which bring the average increase in heart rate to 25.9% for both of these movies compared to the average increase of 23.3% for those watching all of The Shining.

Most Popular British Actor – for the first time ever information has been released to the public from the influential Q Scores.

The Q Scores are said to be highly influential amongst US movie bosses and until now the results have not been made available to those outside the industry.

As well as scoring the appeal of British actors other Q Score surveys have looked at sports stars, cartoon characters and a recent survey even rated the appeal of various deceased celebrities.

The Q Scores are compiled every 6 months by asking a sample of 1500 people from the New York state area how much they like and trust a celebrity or product. Those being surveyed have to give one of the following answers to each person or product they are asked about: A. One of my favorites.   B. Very Good   C. Good   D. Fair   E. Poor   F. Never heard of.

The Q Score is then worked out by dividing the number of those who answered A. by how many people actually recognised the person or product being surveyed (A through to E) and multiplying this figure by 100. This Q Score is well thought of by the entertainment industry as it shows not just viewing figures but also whether the person or product is a genuine favourite and therefore likely to result in stronger and more consistent sales, plus more spin-offs, DVDs, Blu-Rays etc.

Most Stylish Celebrities of 2013 – last night saw the announcement of Who What Wear’s 50 Style Stars of 2013 at a special event held at the London Hotel in West Hollywood.

The event, which was held in partnership with luxury US car manufacturer Cadillac, had many of the expected celebrity names on the list but also had some more surprising additions.

There were plenty of models on the list, as you might expect, including the recently announced to be single Miranda Kerr.

There also seemed to be a large number of family connections on the list with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen joined by their less well-known younger sister Elizabeth and Beyonce being joined by her sister Solange Knowles.

The event was hosted by Nicole Richie who also made it onto the 50 Style Stars List as well.

One of the most popular choices to make it onto the 50 Style Stars list was actress and mother Jessica Alba, who has consistently pleased over the last 12 months with her choice of outfits at red carpet events. She again looked the part on Thursday night as she wore a chic little Wes Gordon cocktail dress that she matched with a simple clutch bag and some nude and silver heels.

Scarlett Johansson Named Sexiest Woman Alive For Second Time, It Must Be True Then! – the stunning 28-year old actress has been given Esquire’s title of “Sexiest Woman Alive” for the 2nd time.

Scarlett first won the sexiest woman alive title back in 2006 and she is the first woman to win the title twice.

The Esquire list of the sexiest woman alive always sparks up plenty of discussion about who should be on the list and isn’t and who is on the list and shouldn’t be!

Previous winners of the title include Angelina Jolie, Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Rihanna, Kate Beckinsale, Charlize Theron and Mila Kunis, who took the title last year.

World’s Sexiest Movie Stars – the readers of film magazine Empire have decided on the sexiest movie stars in the world and the good news for UK film fans is that the winners of both sexiest man and sexiest woman are British.

As a hint to a former child star turned singer the awards prove that you don’t have to go to extremes to be thought of as sexy by the public. Emma Watson has more than moved on from her first movie role as Hermione in the Harry Potter movie series.

Emma was the only British actress to make the Top 10 of the sexiest female movie star list with the next highest placed British female actress being Keira Knightley in 17th position with Kate Beckinsale, Gemma Arterton and Emily Blunt following just after Keira.

Emma beat off some strong international competition for the award with Scarlett Johansson coming in 2nd place, followed by Jennifer Lawrence in 3rd place.

Just to prove that the Empire readers have not forgotten those sexy ladies from the classic movies if the past Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly both got into the Top 50 list.

Best of the Red Carpet Action from the Emmys and the Award Winners – last night was the big night for the television industry with the award of the 2013 Emmys.

The awards are the tv equivalent of the Oscars for the movie industry, the Tony awards for the theatre industry or the Grammys for the music industry.

Tonights awards were the 65th and were held as always in LA, this year’s venue being the Nokia Theatre in Downtown LA.

The big winners last night as far as the shows themselves go were Breaking Bad, which won the Best Drama Series award ahead of UK hope Downton Abbey, and Modern Family, which won the hotly contested Best Comedy Series award which many people had thought would go to The Big Bang Theory.

As far as the Outstanding Miniseries or Movie category goes the award went, just as expected by most observers, to the Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra. NBC’s The Voice took the award for the Outstanding Reality or Competition programme.

Before all the prizes were dished out though there was the matter of a top-notch red carpet showing to see and here are some of the main highlights as far as the Primetime Emmy fashions go.

Red Carpet Fashions and Wardrobe Malfunctions at the BET Awards – yesterday saw the annual BET Awards being held at LA’s Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.

As usual what everyone was wearing was at least as big a topic as who was winning the awards this year.

It now seems almost expected that at there will be at least 1 wardrobe malfunction at every major prize-giving event. Add to this some very revealing outfits and you can see that there was a lot of celebrity flesh on show again this year.

Although obviously not a wardrobe malfunction actress Meagan Good’s dress got a lot of second looks. The 31-year old Deception actress raised plenty of eyebrows when she turned up on the red carpet wearing an extremely low-cut and hugely cleavage bearing blue dress which also featured a large slit up to her thigh.

Meagan was clearly not wearing a bra as her nipples could be seen through the fabric of the dress and many commented whether it was right that she wore the outfit to present the Best Gospel Artist award and also noted the fact that as of last year Meagan is married to a preacher!

Amber Rose was caught unawares by a sudden gust of wind as she arrived at the awards with fiance Wiz Khalifa. The sudden gust caused a minor wardrobe malfunction which revealed the 29-year old’s bare bottom under her bright yellow and black dress.

Singer Nicki Minaj’s outfit managed to steal the headlines from her duet companion Chris Brown. Nicki’s tight silver coloured corset top showed an eye-popping amount of cleavage that ensured all eyes were on her when the pair took to the stage on Sunday night.
