The new survey asked 1000 women which celebrity most influenced their choice of beauty products and Cheryl came out top of the list with an incredible 80% of the women surveyed admitting to buying the same beauty products used by their favourite celebrities in an attempt to pull off the same look.
It also seems that money is no object when it comes to recreating your favourite celeb’s red carpet make-up as a quarter of those surveyed admitted to spending up to £80 on an individual cosmetic item that a celebrity had either endorsed or admitted to using in their beauty regime. On top of this an additional 60 women actually admitted that they would spend as much as £200 on a single beauty product if they believed it would make them look like the celebrity who used it.
On average the total spent by women looking to capture that celeb beauty icon look was £312. This and the fact that most women (75%) said they would go straight out and buy a new beauty product that their beauty icon had posted about on Twitter or any other social media site must have the cosmetic company marketeers rubbing their hands with glee.
As well as those selling the beauty products there is also a strong market for beauty instructional products with a number of blogs and video sites that offer help to “look like …” having large followings.
