Top Chef’s Padma Lakshmi’s Hot Boston Common Photo Feature – the 43-year old is best-known these days for her work on the reality cooking show Top Chef but also has a number of other careers to her name as an actress, model and author not to mention having had more than her fair share of famous romances.

If you were to go back to around 2005 you would mostly know the Indian-born Padma as being famous for being the wife of Booker Prize winning novelist Salman Rushdie. However for some time before that she was actually very well-known in the fashion world as she was at that time the only Indian model with a successful worldwide career.

Padma appeared on just about every top magazine cover (Vogue, FHM, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Newsweek) during this time and also appeared nude in the May 2009 issue of Allure magazine.

Chrissy Teigen Has Nip-Slip Moment On GQ Cover Photo – Sports Illustrated model Chrissy Teigen appears on the cover of GQ Mexico this month but appears to have had something of a nipple mishap.

The 28-year old appears topless on the July cover of the magazine but strangely seems to have had one of her nipples airbrushed out of the photo. From the sexy black and white photo taken with her husband John Legend that appeared in Obsession last September we certainly know that Chrissy definitely has nipples but can only assume that the Mexican editorial team chickened out of a full topless shot of her and called the Photoshop censor team in before publishing the photo.

Like many women who have found fame via a Sports Illustrated feature she is making the most of her opportunity and has appeared in a number of magazines over the last few months including Cosmopolitan and the US version of GQ.

Nigella Lawson Drug Use Claims Made In Court – if claims made in court by a defence barrister are to be believed the curvaceous kitchen goddess has spent much of the past few years “off her head’ on drugs.

Although the tv chef’s divorce to multi-millionaire businessman and art collector Charles Saatchi was granted earlier this year at a High Court hearing lasting less than a minute it looks like the case currently being heard at Isleworth Crown Court is going to reveal far more about their marriage than we were expecting.

The court case concerns a prosecution being brought by Charles Saatchi against sisters Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo, who previously worked for the couple as assistants, with regard to an alleged £300k misappropriation of his company’s funds.

The Grillo sisters are said to have spent this sum of money on air travel and designer clothing using credit cards belonging to Mr Saatchi’s company Conraco Partnership. The story is that Nigella was aware of their spending on the cards but kept quiet as a price for the ‘tacit understanding’ that they then kept quiet about Nigella’s alleged drug habit.

Nigella Lawson And Husband To Divorce – the celebrity chief and her multimillionaire former advertising exec husband are to divorce after that infamous birthday meal out.

We are used to news of celebrity births and even deaths coming via Twitter these days but today Charles Saatchi decided to use the Mail on Sunday as his chosen form of communication to let his wife know that their marriage was over.

70-year old Saatchi issued a statement via the paper today which advised that he and his wife Nigella Lawson are getting divorced.

It seems that the couple have not spoken to each other since the photos of him gripping her throat at Scott’s restaurant were published in the press. Just after the story broke Nigella left the family home with her son Bruno and has not been back since.

Nigella Lawson “Attacked” By Husband In Public – there has been much shock today as pictures have been published showing Nigella’s husband,  Charles Saatchi, with his hands around her neck.

Top tv chef and writer Nigella and her husband were having a meal at Scott’s seafood restaurant to celebrate Saatchi’s 70th birthday when they appeared to get into an argument. They were sitting at their usual outside table at the favourite celebrity restaurant in Mayfair as Charles likes to smoke.

Pictures have been released in today’s Sunday People showing Saatchi with his hands round Nigella’s throat and one of the pictures also appears to show him holding her nose with one hand whilst his other hand is around her throat.

Most Irritating Celebrities – here is one poll that no celebrity will be hoping they come out on top of. Star magazine has released its 2013 list of the most irritating celebrities.

The celebrity who topped this year’s most irritating list was Gwyneth Paltrow. She is probably best-known for being an actress but these days it is her role as a wife and mother that seems to get the most headlines and probably has won her this unwanted title.

Her recent gluten-free cookbook It’s All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great has received a lot of criticism for its recipes that often call for very expensive ingredients such as manuka honey and duck eggs. One commentator even tried to say that following the diet for a family would cost around $300 a day, although this was later proved to be something of an exaggeration although her fish finger recipe worked out at $72 for one meal.

Nonetheless it is writing books like this that have irritated people about GP and most ordinary families are not keen on a multi-millionaire giving them tips on cooking and how to bring up their families.

One person who was expected to give Gwyneth a run for her money in this irritating poll was Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway. She seems to strongly divide opinion and is seen as a real Marmite figure (you either love her or hate her).

Jamon Jamon Director Bigas Luna Dies  – the Spanish film director Bigas Luna has died at the age of 67 after a long battle with leukemia.

Luna is best known for his 1992 movie Jamon Jamon which brought both Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz (now married and both Oscar winners) to the public’s attention.

Jamón Jamón (or as translated from Spanish Ham Ham) is a quirky tale of Silvia (played by 17-year old Penélope Cruz) who cooks omelettes for the workers in a lingerie factory. The movie covers many themes including the links between food and sex and amongst many memorable (and strange) scenes shows Javier Bardem describing Penélope Cruz’s nipples as tasting like omelettes and ham and ends with a fight to the death between Bardem’s character Raul and Cruz’s boyfriend Jose Luis, played by Jordi Mollá. Nothing strange about a film ending with a fight to the death you would think but this one has the two men using ham joints as weapons!

Jamón Jamón was the first movie in Luna’s Iberian Trilogy which also included Golden Balls (1993) and The Tit and the Moon (1994). As you might guess from the titles these movies also had something of an erotic theme. The Tit and the Moon is centred around a young boy’s obsession with breasts and his quest to find the perfect pair of lactating breasts after he sees his baby brother being breast-fed by their mother. The answer to the boy’s prayers turns out to be Estrellita, a dancer played by Mathilda May.

Nigella’s Sexy Red Dress Proves A Hit – Nigella Lawson has proved a big hit with viewers in the US as she flirted and wiggled her way through the first episode of The Taste.

Our favourite curvy cook spent much of her on-screen time flirting with fellow judge Ludo Lefebvre. The US chef has admitted to being a big fan of Nigella’s taking to Twitter after the show aired to say: ‘Im going 2 say it again. I was so in LOVE with @Nigella_Lawson when I was younger, she still just so beautiful & nice @TheTasteABC #thetaste.’

It seems that Ludo is not the only person to be impressed by Nigella as the ABC phone switchboard was inundated with requests for details of Nigella’s figure-hugging scarlet dress and where they could get hold of one for themselves.

The scarlet dress turns out to be a 50’s style number called The Billion Dollar Baby which Nigella bought from a small vintage store in Frome, Somerset called Deadly Is The Female. Unsurprisingly the shop has been flooded with people trying to get their own Billion Dollar Baby dress and they sold out of stock extremely quickly.

Nigella may be responsible for the dress getting a new name as her sexy moves have meant that the scarlet dress has since been referred to as the ‘wiggle dress.’ It comes from the styling that gives the dress a narrower hem than the hip area which forces the wearer to move their legs together and wiggle their hips.

The dress also seems to be a hot with fashion critics with Susannah Constantine of Trinny and Susannah and What Not To Wear saying ‘Nigella looks stunning. This dress does everything to show off her luscious figure without falling into the trap of trash. It’s not like she has laid out her wares, yet we know she is all woman. Curvy women must honour their bodies by showing them off like this.’

Oh and there was also some cooking to be seen on the show which saw Nigella put through to the next stage a home cook due to her mashed potato which Nigella said reminded her of her own grandmother’s cooking.

 

Celebrity Great British Bake Off – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 18 January 2013

Celebrity Version Of Great British Bake Off – the main series of Great British Bake Off was probably one of the most surprising tv successes of last year here in the UK.

The main series is presented by Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc and also features professional baker Paul Hollywood and the well-known cookery writer Mary Berry who both judge and comment on the competitor’s dishes. Both Mary and Paul have proved very popular with the public with Paul winning many female fans with his mean and moody approach and his silver fox good looks whilst Mary has surprised viewers with her fashionable choices of outfit. In fact a £30 floral bomber jacket that 77-year old Mary wore early on in the latest series proved to be such a hit that Zara sold out in hours and copies of the jacket were soon selling on eBay for up to £200.

In the new Celebrity Great British Bake Off, which is to be called the Great Comic Relief Bake Off, all the action will take place over just 4 programmes starting this Monday (21 January). Each programme will feature 4 different celebrities who will each have to produce a signature bake, a technical bake and a showstopper bake. The winner of each show will then be given the title of Comic Relief Star Baker.

Several of the celebrities have already admitted to be being slightly obsessed by baking with Film 2013 and Strictly Come Dancing presenter the very cute Claudia Winkleman saying “I am actually obsessed with baking. I often cover the kitchen in flour and I have three whisks. I have only ever made two things – a Victoria sponge and chocolate cookies.

“It turns out the Bake Off is about other things too. I had the most brilliant time and have baked more since taking part. But I refuse to try pastry, I can’t even discuss it.”

Amongst the other celebrities taking part in the show are comics Jo Brand, Bob Mortimer, Ed Byrne and Stephen K Amos, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, Olympian Helen Glover, diminutive actor Warwick Davis as well as presenters Julia Bradbury, Martha Kearney and Kirsty Wark.

We can look forward to seeing the celebrities cooking up their own versions of chocolate cake, shortbread, Bakewell tart, scones and lemon meringue pie.

As the series is linked in with fundraising for the Comic Relief charity there is also an accompanying Great Comic Relief Bake Off book which can be purchased from Sainsburys and an Emma Bridgewater designed kitchen apron that will be available from TK Maxx and Homesense stores.

Slimmed Down Nigella In The USA – unlike most of the rest of the world Nigella Lawson seems to have lost weight over the Christmas holidays.

Nigella was appearing at a promotional event for her new US show Taste and wore a very tight-fitting red dress that showed there is much less of glamorous chef than there used to be.

Nigella has previously been well-known here in the UK for her very womanly, curvy figure with many men watching her show for the views down her ample cleavage and her sexy voice.

She has made no secret of the fact that she has wanted to crack the US market and with a range of cookery books selling well in the UK a similar level of success in America could prove to be very lucrative indeed. Whether it is what Nigella believes she needs to do to break into the US market or not there is no doubting the fact that she has lost a lot of weight in recent months.

She is not the first member of her family to appear with a much slimmed down body as her father Nigel Lawson, a previous Chancellor of the Exchequer, famously lost 5 stone in weight after leaving the government. He even published a book, The Nigel Lawson Diet Book, on the back of his dieting success.

You can see the difference in how much Nigella there is these days when you compare the shot of her on the promotional rounds for Taste against a much earlier photo of Nigella in a London taxi showing us a lot more of her voluptuous body than is normally on show.

Nigella’s new US show Taste is described as being a reality style show that is a mix between a traditional cooking competition show and a talent show. The show debuts on the ABC network on 22 January and is set to run for 8 episodes so far.

Taste will also feature 3 other cookery experts: the straight talking Anthony Bourdain (best known for his tv series No Reservations), chef and author Ludo Lefebvre, and restauranteur Brian Malarkey.

Each of the 4 experts will coach a team of 4 amateur and professional cooks and at the end of each episode the experts have to sample the dishes blind with no knowledge of whose dish they are eating or even what the dish is.

The first episode features a total of 29 professional and amateur cooks who are trying to get through the initial audition part of the programme and into the main competition. Their chances of progressing are down to whether a single mouthful of their prepared dish is good enough to impress the expert panel. The winner of the show is proclaimed as having “The Best Tasting Dish”.
