Glamour On Pride of Britain Awards Red Carpet

Carol Vorderman shows off hourglass figure in tight red dress at Pride of Britain AwardsGlamour On Pride of Britain Awards Red Carpet – tonight saw the annual Pride of Britain Awards being held to honour some of the nation’s unsung heroes.

Although all the celebrities and the great and the good are agreed that this is one night the focus is not on them there is one exception to that rule and that is the event’s red carpet.

As usual the Pride of Britain Awards are hosted this year by UK television favourite Carol Vorderman who made the most of her red carpet moment in a figure-hugging red dress that showed off the presenter’s hourglass figure. Carol is known for being in even better shape as an older woman than when she was first seen on our screens as the original Countdown presenter. Heaven help us if Rachel Riley gets better as she gets older!

Once inside the event Carol changed from her red outfit to a long white gown over a nude mesh ready for her role presenting the awards.

Other tv presenters looking particularly good tonight included Susanna Reid whose outfit really showed off her bust and we can imagine her ITV morning show producers licking their lips at the thought of a similar outfit making an appearance on the breakfast sofa and how many extra viewers it might draw in.

Busty looking Susanna Reid in gold dress at Pride of Britain AwardsThe awards are sponsored by The Daily Mirror, Lidl, ITV and The Prince’s Trust and are held at London’s Grosvenor House. There is no problem in getting a star-studded audience for the and award presenters for this event and this year amongst the many guests were the UK Prime Minister, David Cameron and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini who wowed the waiting crowd with a backless evening gown (Cheryl, not the Prime Minister that is).

The evening is known as being highly emotional and we guess that many a tear was shed by the audience tonight as we expect will be the case when the highlights of the show are seen on ITV. It seems harsh to single any particular winner out but this year one person above all others has made a huge connection with the country. Cancer sufferer Stephen Sutton becomes the first ever posthumous winner of a Pride of Britain award as he wins a Special Recognition award.

Stephen became known throughout the land as his campaign to raise awareness and funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust quickly moved past the £10k target he had originally set himself. He was well-known for his trademark thumbs-up photos and by the time this May he sadly lost his battle against the disease he has raised well over £4m.

In fact before the Pride awards began tonight the total showing on Stephen’s Just Giving page stood at a massive £4.97m and it was no surprise that with a little encouragement those inside Grosvenor House added to the sum and it moved past the £5m mark.

You can watch the televised version of the 2014 Pride of Britain Awards on ITV tomorrow evening (7 October) starting at 8pm but we strongly recommend you get in a fresh box of tissues before you sit down to see the show and all the heroes getting awards.

2014 Emmys, A Good Night For Modern Family, Sherlock and Breaking Bad – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 26 August 2014

Sofia Vergara – Oops!

2014 Emmys, A Good Night For Modern Family, Sherlock and Breaking Bad – last night’s Emmy Awards proved to be a good night for the UK’s Sherlock series but although the show picked up 3 of the main awards there was not much else to cheer UK actors or tv producers.

Sherlock finally won over its US audience and emerged with Emmy wins for its lead actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Steven Moffat, the show’s writer.

It was another triumphant evening for the brilliant Breaking Bad, which saw the show pick up the evening’s most prestigious award, Outstanding Drama Series, in its final year. It also won the awards for Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Bryan Cranston), Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Aaron Paul) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Anna Gunn).

In the comedy categories Modern Family did best of all the series with wins in the Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series (Gail Mancuso) and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series(Ty Burrell) categories.

As was expected The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons once again took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus again winning the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award for her role in Veep.

It was another big night on the red carpet and there were as usual some winners and some losers. Without much doubt last night was a big win for the colour red which seemed to be the most on trend choice of colour for the celebs who were invited to the Emmys. Amongst those choosing red, or  a shade of that colour, were Mad Men actresses Christina Hendricks and January Jones as well as Heidi Klum, Kaley Cuoco, Claire Danes and award-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfuss.

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara turned up without her boyfriend Joe Manganiello and joked that she hadn’t brought him because he was too sexy and would be a distraction.

Sofia’s evening turned out to be a little more interesting than she might have liked as she suffered a nip-slip wardrobe malfunction at the after party whilst she was being spun round on the dancefloor by Dancing Withe Stars’ Derek Hough.

Maitland Ward Wears This Year’s Most Revealing Red Carpet Outfit – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 17 April 2014

Maitland Ward in see-through dress with no underwear.Maitland Ward Wears This Year’s Most Revealing Red Carpet Outfit – the 37-year old actress left a few onlookers staring open-mouthed as she turned up for a movie premiere last night in a see-through dress with no underwear on.

The US actress is best-known for her role as Rachel McGuire in the long-running tv series Boy Meets World.

She was attending the premiere of A Haunted House 2 at the Regal Cinema at LA Live with an outfit that clearly takes the title of most revealing red carpet outfit of the year, at least so far. However when you see just how little of the actress is not revealed by the black see-through dress then you do wonder what sort of outfit might be more revealing than this one.

Since Boy Meets World finished in 2000 it would be fair to say that Maitland has not exactly been a constant presence on our screens, either big or small. Apart from a couple of minor movie roles she just has credits in 3 tv shows. After her red carpet appearance last night it could well be that a few more people in the industry might remember her name. Read the rest of this entry »

Olivier Awards 2014, Winners and Red Carpet Fashions – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 13 April 2014

Olivier Awards 2014, Winners and Red Carpet Fashions – tonight saw the 2014 Laurence Olivier Awards being held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Myleene Klass at 2014 Olivier Awards

Myleene Klass

This year’s awards were co-hosted by Stephen Mangan and Gemma Arterton with the red carpet arrivals even having their own star to host the event in the lovely form of musician and presenter Myleene Klass.

Apart from Gemma Arterton and Myleene Klass other eye-catching outfits at tonight’s award ceremony came from Zrinka Cvitesic, Samantha Barks and Lizzie Cundy.

34-year old Croatian actress Zrinka Cvitesic is not that well-known at the moment but if her stunning look tonight in a long white fitted gown with lots of see-through sections is anything to go by we are guessing that we will all be seeing a lot more of her in the future. She is really only known here in the UK for her performance in the West End musical Once, for which she won a West End Frame Award for the best West End debut last year. Back home in Croatia she actually won the first series of Ples sa zvijezdama, the Croatian version of Strictly Come Dancing. Looking at her Olivier award outfit can we suggest the UK Strictly team get her on the phone to book for the next series. Incidentally as well as looking stunning tonight Zrinka also took home the award for Best Actress in a Musical for her part in Once. Read the rest of this entry »

2014 Oscar Winners and Vanity Fair Photos – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 03 March 2014

Cate Blanchett wins Best Actress Oscar

Cate Blanchett wins Best Actress Oscar

2014 Oscar Winners and Vanity Fair Photos – last night saw Hollywood’s biggest party of the year with the awards going pretty much as everyone predicted.

This year has been something of a done deal as even a few weeks ago we were all fairly sure that some of the Academy Award categories were already a foregone conclusion. There were few people willing to bet against Jared Leto in the Best Supporting Actor category, Lupita Nyong’o for Best Supporting Actress or Matthew McConaughey for Best Actor.

However there was one category which was the least well contested for many years, with the majority of critics hailing Cate Blanchett’s performance in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine as an Oscar-winning one as long ago as last September. This is all the more remarkable when one sees that she was up against 3 real acting heavyweights and former Oscar winners in Judi Dench, Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep.

The movie that had the most overall success this year was Gravity which won 7 awards in total including a Best Director award for Alfonso Cuaron, who became the first Latin American to win the Best Director Oscar.

It was a disappointing evening for both Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle which failed to move enough Academy members to win any of the awards on offer despite the 2 movies having a total of 15 nominations between them. Leonardo DiCaprio was the bridesmaid yet again and there are some who wonder if his time will ever come as regards a Best Actor Oscar.

Fashion-wise most of the more interesting action came courtesy of the famous post Oscars Vanity Fair party in West Hollywood. There were a few fashion related events of note at the main event however with Jennifer Lawrence following up last year’s Oscar trip with another tumble, this time on the red carpet outside the theatre. How Much More Revealing Can Clothes Get? – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 24 January 2014

Paris Hilton wears dress with nude see-through section that threaten to reveal crotch

Paris Hilton

How Much More Revealing Can Clothes Get? –  in the last 24 hours we have seen 3 of the more extreme items of clothing from Paris Hilton, Coco Austin and here in the UK Rachel Wilde’s NTA outfit.

It seems that to be sure of getting media coverage women are having to wear more and more outrageous clothes and by that we obviously mean less and less clothing. The other new feature is to turn what looks at first sight to be an ordinary dress or gown into something much more likely to get press coverage by inserting  hidden slits or see-through sections.

Today’s 2 candidates for this type of outfit are Paris Hilton and Coco Austin.

Paris wore a full length black dress to Diddy’s 4th Annual Red Carpet Pre-Grammy Celebration in LA but made the outfit much more newsworthy by having a huge see-through section that clearly showed she was not wearing any underwear and looked in danger of revealing an exposed crotch every time she turned around.

The 32-year old’s dress seemed to have been inspired by the Azzaro Couture dress that actress Jaimie Alexander wore to the premiere of Thor in November last year. The dress not only had a large see-through section like the one Paris wore but the see-through portion also extended up her body to reveal her cleavage. Read the rest of this entry »

NTAs 2014, The Winners and Who Was Hot and Who Was Not On The Red Carpet – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 23 January 2014

Strictly's Abbey Clancy

NTAs 2014, The Winners and Who Was Hot and Who Was Not On The Red Carpet – apart from last night’s wardrobe malfunction from Kelly Brook there were a lot of things going on at the National Television Awards.

The least surprising part of the night came with Ant and Dec winning the Best Entertainment Presenter prize for the 13th year running but even they were shocked when they also picked up an NTA Landmark Award which also saw them receive a letter from the heir to the throne, Prince Charles.

As was only right and proper the new award of Best TV Detective went to Benedict Cumberbatch for his brilliant portrayal of the legendary detective in BBC’s Sherlock. With the NTAs being decided purely by public votes you can be sure that his fan army of Cumberbitches was out voting in force to make sure that he won.

Another topical winner was Coronation Street’s Julie Hesmondhalgh who won the Best Serial Drama Performance for her portrayal of Hayley Cropper. The character has just been involved in a moving and highly controversial story line that saw her take her own life after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Just a couple of days ago radio dj Nicky Campbell ended up in tears live on air when a caller was discussing the ‘right to die’ debate on his programme phone-in.

It was also a good evening for Doctor Who fans as the show not only took home the award for Best Drama but also saw Matt Smith, the departing Doctor, win the Best Drama Performance award.

Our favourite talent show Strictly Come Dancing took home the Best Talent Show award beating off competition from X Factor and The Voice to crown off a very successful year for the show.

As far as the winner sand losers on the red carpet go it was another win for Strictly as the current champion Abbey Clancy won most people’s award for best dressed on the red carpet. She is still clearly benefiting from her dancing workouts and looked stunning in a long red dress. Fellow Strictly competitor Susanna Reid had a more mixed reaction to her white dress that some said made her look a little like a bridesmaid at a wedding. Read the rest of this entry »
