Man’s Perfect Woman – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 14 March 2013

Man’s Perfect Woman – a UK celebrity style site has conducted a poll of men to find out what their perfect woman would look like if they could pick and choose various body parts from their favourite celebrities.

Online site Mycelebritystyle.co.uk polled British men to find out whose body bits topped their most wanted lists. Model Miranda Kerr polled the most votes in the various categories winning 2 outright and coming 2nd in a further 2. Others who performed well in the poll were Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton who won 2 categories as did tv presenter Holly Willoughby.

So then what parts were picked from what celebrity? Here we go with a list of the winners and runners-up in each of the categories. See what you think of the winners. Our thoughts were Cheryl Cole should have won the eyes category and not the abs which we would have definitely given to Jessica Ennis. Also no place in any category for Beyonce?

Best Oscar Speeches and Best and Worst Oscar Outfits – just ahead of tomorrow night’s 2013 Oscars the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released a new site to celebrate Oscar acceptance speeches of years gone by.

The site lets you search by keywords to find your favourite ‘thank you’ speeches from the Academy’s archives. As well as searching by keyword you can also search by award category, movie title winner’s name or the year. Full details are available for all Oscar ceremonies back to 1971 although there are also details of most big movies and award winners going back as far as the 12th Academy Awards in 1939.

If you find you still want yet more details ahead of tomorrow’s Oscars then head on over to Rebecca Rolfe’s Thank The Academy site which has loads of stats on Oscar speeches and even lets you build your own Oscar acceptance speech with its ‘Write Your Own’ feature.

Rebecca has studied over 200 different Oscar acceptance speech videos to obtain her data and one of the facts that the Georgia Tech graduate has discovered is that the most thanked individual in Oscars history is 60–year old US movie producer and film studio executive Harvey Weinstein who has been thanked 12 times since the early 90’s. The first Oscar winner to acknowledge Harvey’s influence on their career was 1993 winner Holly Hunter with the most recent thank you coming from The Artist’s Michel Hazanavicius last year.

Wherever you decide to look for some Oscar acceptance speech gems then there are many great examples to find including Angelina Jolie’s strange ” I’m so in love with my brother right now”, Roberto Benigni’s emotional rambling speech for his Life Is Beautiful win in 1999 and Marlon Brando’s 1973 win for The Godfather when he decided to send a Native American activist called Sacheen Littlefeather (real name Marie Louise Cruz) to announce that he would not be accepting the award as a protest at the way Native Americans were portrayed in the entertainment industry.

Top 10 Actresses British Men Don’t Find Sexy – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 19 February 2013

Top 10 Actresses British Men Don’t Find Sexy – a new survey has found that the actress that men in the UK find least sexy is Twilight star, Kristen Stewart.

The 22-year old finished at the top, or should that be the bottom, of the pile in a pre-Oscar survey conducted by  online gadget site Menkind.co.uk. Their site is a little like the US sites of The Sharper Image and Hammacher Schlemmer.

A spokesman for the company said that the survey showed that British men were turned off by women who were moody, volatile and that they were not keen on ‘skinny startlets.’ The view was also expressed that it showed that sexiness is about far more than just the outward appearance of an actress.

The results will come as a surprise to many as just last year Kristen Stewart was voted Number 15 in the Maxim Hot 100 and also placed at Number 7 in the AskMen list of the World’s Most Desirable Women.

Michelle Dockery Flashes Sideboob At SAG Awards – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 28 January 2013

Michelle Dockery Flashes Sideboob At SAG Awards – the 31-year old actress almost showed a little too much as she celebrated Downton Abbey’s win at the SAG Awards last night.

Downton Abbey took home the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Cast in a Drama Series although Michelle herself was not so lucky in her individual category for playing the part of Lady Mary Crawley, with Claire Danes winning the Best Actress in a Drama Series Award for her role as Carrie Mathison in Homeland.

Nonetheless Michelle looked more than pleased with the cast award and was laughing so much with the rest of the Downton actors that she was in danger of escaping from her vintage Chado Ralph Rucci black dress. The black satin outfit had sheer panels on both sides that showed off a lot of sideboob but were perhaps not designed for someone jumping about and celebrating.

Michelle was not the only Downton star to travel to LA for the awards show as she was joined by fellow cast members Phyllis Logan, Allen Leech, Amy Nuttall and Sophie McShera.

The Downton Abbey cast seemed a little shocked that their show had beaten of the competition from Mad Men and Homeland which were both strong contenders in their category.

It was Downton’s Mrs Hughes, aka actress Phyllis Logan who led the cast on stage to accept the award last night saying as she accepted the award on behalf of the cast: ‘We would like to thank, first of all, SAG for even bothering to consider us against this fantastic category that we’re in. We’re just absolutely overwhelmed by it all.’

It seems that the classic black dress and variations on that theme was far and away the most popular choice at the awards last night with other wearers including Best Supporting Actress Award winner Ann Hathaway, Juliane Moore, Claire Danes, Tina Fey, Sigourney Weaver, Naya Rivera and Amy Poehler.

Oscar Nominations 2013, Made In Chelsea Girls Release Topless Photo – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 10 January 2013

Oscar Nominations 2013 – the nominations have been announced today for this year’s Academy Awards.

The big winners today in terms of the number of nominations they have received are Lincoln (12 nominations) and director Ang Lee’s Life of Pi (11 nominations).

The next most nominated movies both earned 8 nominations. The movie adaptation of legendary stage musical Les Miserable shared its joint 3rd place in the nominations with the much less fancied Silver Linings Playbook.

Silver Linings Playbook also became the first movie since Warren Beatty’s film Reds in 1982 to obtain nominations in all 4 acting categories (Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress).

It was almost impossible to think that Lincoln and Life of Pi wouldn’t make it onto the shortlist for Best Movie but this year’s list of 9 movies did throw up the odd surprise. In particular we guess you would have got very good odds on Benh Zeitlin’s fantasy movie Beasts of the Southern Wild making it to the final list of the year’s best 9 movies. Beasts of the Southern Wild, which centres on the story of a 6-year old girl called Hushpuppy who lives in a Louisiana bayou community, is nominated for a further 3 Academy Awards including a Best Director nomination for Zeitlin.

Made In Chelsea Girls Release Topless Photo – there was an unexpected present on Twitter with an early  New Year’s gift of a topless photo from the girls of Made In Chelsea.

The girls, who have all been described as “posh totty’, posted the topless photo on Made In Chelsea cast member Alexandra Felstead’s Twitter account @BinkyFelstead.

ALthough they are keen to show how hot they are the most revealing photo comes from 22-year old Edinburgh University student Louise Thompson. Don’t get any big ideas though as Louise has earlier posted some photos of herself on the beach in St Barts with her boyfriend and fellow cast member Spencer Mattthews. It was thought they had split up from the MIC episode aired over Christmas but the pictures tell a different story.

It has to be said that if you are looking to bump into some celebrities next Christmas then St Barts might be a good place to go as there have been any number of beach photos posted from the Caribbean island over the Christmas period.

The recently released Twitter photo of the Made On Chelsea girls also features Millie Mackintosh, current squeeze of Professor Green. Apart from looking really hot Millie is also the heiress to the Mackintosh’s confectionery firm which produces Rolo and Quality Street sweets.

Kaley Cuoco Reveals Hot Body Secrets – Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco is on the cover of Self magazine’s January 2013 issue and inside she tells her secret to looking hot.

The 27-year old, who stars as waitress Penny in the show, talks about what food she likes in real life. She said to Self:

‘I start the day with oatmeal with vanilla almond milk, If I don’t, I’m dying by noon and eating everything in sight.

‘On-set, I avoid crap and pack soup and salad. I cook pork chops or turkey tacos for dinner.’

As regards exercise it seems that the key to her great abs and legs is lots of spinning classes which Kaley says completely changed her body especially her abs and legs.

Despite looking so good Kaley reveals that she also suffers from body self-doubt saying: I judge myself all the time. It takes a huge effort to look this way, and I still think I could lose 5 pounds!”

One thing that she thinks help her keep grounded despite the huge success of Big Bang Theory is her close group of friends who she has known since before she was famous. Kaley says that she thinks several celebrities would do much better if they had some good friends to advise them on some of their choices. One thing she seems amazed about is that so many Hollywood stars seem to go out without remembering to wear underwear. Clearly commando isn’t on Kaley’s dress choices when going out for the evening!

Although Kaley was first seen in award-winning US sitcom 8 Simple Rules it is Big Bang Theory that has made her into a big star. The series, which has been running since 2007, is often described as a ‘geek comedy’ and centres on the romantic and social problems that a set of male geeks have in dealing with the non-geek world.

Another hot looking woman who has become one of Kaley’s best friends is the small but very curvy Melissa Rauch who plays Howard’s girlfriend Bernadette Rostenkowski. Melissa started off her career as a stand-up comedian and first achieved fame in her one-woman show The Miss Education of Miss Jenna Bush, where she played the former US president’s daughter.

The series became a big hit in its native US and by the 4th series it overtook Two and a Half Men to become the highest rated comedy series in America.

It seems that we here in the UK are also pretty keen on the show as a new YouGov survey for The Sun reveals  The Big Bang Theory is the 2nd Best Liked TV Show in the UK second only to Downton Abbey.

Big Bang Theory features a favourite ploy of sitcom writers with the character of Howard Wolowitz’s mother (as voiced by Carol Ann Susi) never being seen on-screen. This is one of the latest of a long line of classic unseen characters such as Norms’s wife Vera in Cheers, Niles wife Maris in Frasier, Karen’s husband Stan in Will and Grace, Arthur Daley’s wife in Minder, Hyacinth Bucket’s son in Keeping Up Appearances, and Captain Manwaring’s wife in Dad’s Army.

 

Top Wikipedia Articles of 2012 – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 28 December 2012

Top Wikipedia Articles – although Wikipedia itself doesn’t release Top 10 lists anymore it does still allow researchers to access its log files and Swedish software engineer Johan Gunnarsson has done all the hard work for us.

Although data is not available for separate countries we can see what are the most popular wiki articles in the different language versions of the site. In the English language version, which is unsurprisingly the biggest, the most searched article this year turns out to be ‘Facebook’ which had over 32m hits. Gunnarsson believes that the reason this article is so popular is either: 1)  users are typing Facebook into an integrated search engine in their browsers intending to go to the site and end up on Wikipedia (which could be a self-reinforcing habit based on search history), or 2) it reflects high-level interest and curiosity about top websites and their history, policies and background.

The second most popular article was ‘Wiki’ with over 29m people looking at it, presumably to work out the meaning of the Wikipedia site itself. Curiously though there is a ‘Wikipedia’ article on the site and this came in at 27th place in terms of number of hits.

Other Top 10 Wikipedia articles this year included ”Deaths in 2012′ and movies ‘The Avengers’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘The Hunger Games.’ The list also has One Direction and Fifty Shades of Grey making the Top 10.

Other language versions of Wikipedia also had Top 10 details released and it seems that the Japanese are keen on actresses in porn movies, the Germans have an unusual preoccupation with cul-de-sacs (sackgasse to them), the Vietnamese are keen to read about sex positions and the world’s French-speaking nations are strangely curious about houx crenele, a type of holly from Asia.

Jennifer Lawrence Voted World’s Most Desirable Woman – the Hunger Games actress has been voted the world’s most desirable woman in a survey by online mag AskMen,com.

The online magazine polled over 2.4m votes and the 22-year old actress topped the list this year. Although she is still probably best known for her role in The Hunger Games there has been a lot of critical support for her role as Tiffany in the rom-com drama Silver Linings Playbook. She is believed to have a good chance of an Oscar nomination for laying the part of the widow who starts an unusual friendship with bipolar sufferer Pat Solitano, played by Bradley Cooper.

Some people may be surprised by Jennifer topping the list of world’s most desirable women as she has a lot less publicity than many others who appear on the list with her.

The survey asked men to rate women based on such factors as looks, personality and talent. The list has been going for some while now and for interest the Top 5 for ten years ago in 2002 were:

Top Trending People and Things of 2012 – Google has today released the 2012 Zeitgeist lists which show the fastest growing search terms of the year not just the enquiries with the highest volumes

In some categories there are the expected results but in others there are some surprising results. For instance how many people would guess that overall top trending search term for the UK in 2012 was not the Olympics but ‘Euro 2012’.

Also in the top trending celebrities searches despite the many reports of her fashion choices, her nude photo scandal and her recent pregnancy announcement, the Duchess of Cambridge, or if you prefer Kate Middleton that was, ended up in 2nd place after the late Whitney Houston who died in February this year.

The top trending television programme might also have surprised many people as it was not TOWIE, Celebrity Big Brother, The Great British Bake Off or even Sherlock that was in top place but a programme on the children’s’ network CBeebies. Mike the Knight is an animated tv programme featuring 10-year old Mike who is trying to be just like his father who has gone off in search off adventure. Other characters in the show include Evie, a younger female wizard, Sparkie and Squirt, 2 dragon friends of Mike, and Fernando who tells the story of each episode.

Another unexpected result was thrown up by the list of top trending music artists. If we said that the top trender was an X Factor contestant then you might expect James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas or Ella Henderson to come out on top but you would be wrong. The top trending music artist of 2012 in the UK turns out to be Lucy Spraggan who left the show in early November after suffering with flu.

In categories which produced more expected results we find that Stella McCartney is the top trending name in fashion during 2012, followed by Karl Lagerfeld, Victoria’s Secret and Alice Temperley.

Another expected result came in the top trending movie category where the James Bond movie Skyfall beat Prometheus, The Hunger Games and Magic Mike.

In the most searched for reality tv stars category Olympian and Strictly Come Dancing competitor Victoria Pendleton took first place ahead of Georgia Salpa and Danica Thrall.

Google also released details of the top trending “how to” searches made here in the UK this year. It turns out that we are most keen to find out how to draw which just beat the searches for ‘how to kiss’ and ‘how to make….’ The ‘how to kiss’ searches presumably followed on from successful advice given by results from the 7th highest trending request for information on ‘how to flirt’

Man’s Perfect Woman – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 23 November 2012

The Perfect Woman – a study has been published today naming which female celebrities men think have the perfect body.

The survey, which was carried out by Remington, revealed that the woman most men thought had the perfect body was the very curvy Kelly Brook.

Although Kelly came out on top of this survey her celebrations will be a little more restrained when she hears that 8 out of 10 men surveyed said that they did not think the perfect woman actually existed.

Coming in 2nd place in the survey was petite Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole and in 3rd place another curvy woman and the owner of the nest celebrity cleavage, tv presenter Holly Willoughby.

As well as naming the woman they thought were nearest to perfection the survey also asked men what they thought most distracted their own women from reaching perfection. The top imperfection seems a fairly easy one to fix if anyone is trying to near perfection as part of their next New Year’s resolutions and doesn’t involve having to have plastic surgery or even go on a crash diet. Apparently the men surveyed were most annoyed by woman spending too much time watching soaps on tv.

Another plus for anyone struggling to reach female perfection is the fact that less than 20% of the men surveyed said that they would actually like their partner to be perfect.
