First Strictly Come Dancing Celebrity Of 2014 Is Revealed – after much guesswork as to who is going to be in the Strictly class of 2014 we have today found out that the first confirmed celebrity taking part is Frankie Sandford from girl group The Saturdays.
The 25-year old WAG and mother of one is said to have been the BBC’s number one choice for this year’s series. Apparently she was meant to have been on last year’s series until she discovered that she was pregnant and had to pull out.
There are several reasons that make Frankie a top choice for this year’s Strictly: she is a WAG (married to footballer Wayne Bridge), she is in great shape (think of those skimpy Latin dance outfits), she brings with her an existing fanbase from The Saturdays and finally she is a huge Strictly fan.
Frankie made the announcement about her Strictly Come Dancing adventure on the BBC’s Breakfast Show this morning. She found it hard to conceal her excitement at being a part of the BBC’s biggest Saturday night show saying: ‘I’m such a huge fan of Strictly! I’ve always wanted to be a part of the show. It looks like so much fun and the costumes are just gorgeous. Like so many little girls, I used to take dance lessons when I was in primary school and I really love dancing but this is going to be so different from anything I have done with The Saturdays. I just can’t wait to get started’
Frankie’s life has had a major turnaround from a few years ago when she entered rehab after suffering from depression for many years. After the sad news of Robin Williams earlier this week it is good to hear a happy ending to someone’s struggles with mental health issues.
Frankie should have little trouble getting in shape for the show as she is known for her great abs and in 2012 she was voted as having one of the Top 10 Celebrity Bodies by Lifestyle 247. She has also featured in FHM’s list of Sexiest Women.
There is bound to be plenty of news and rumours re Frankie’s fellow Strictly celebrity dancers over the next few weeks and the rumour machine is talking about Michelle Keagan and her boyfriend Mark Wright, tennis star Andy Murray’s mother Judy as well as tv presenter Caroline Flack.
Although there is no exact date confirmed yet, Strictly Come Dancing will return to our screens next month.
