In fact Eva is actually wearing the same see-through white robe that she had on in the promotional poster that was released in May this year and was subsequently banned by the Motion Picture Association for America. The MPAA said in their statement that the poster showed too much nudity in particular objecting to “curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.”
Eva just seems a little too much for the US to cope with as ABC said that they would only air the trailer if the Sin City team removed the scenes featuring Eva in the sheer white robe.
The censorship of both the poster and the trailer highlights one of the big differences between the US and the UK as there would be no problem showing Eva wearing her sexy robe here in the UK whilst some of the violent scenes that are routinely allowed by US censors would be unlikely to be passed for viewing in the same way.
It seems that this is also former Bond girl Eva Green’s view on the matter as she said to Vanity Fair of the latest controversy: ‘You have so many more violent things in the movie business … this is kind of soft. I’m not naked. It’s suggested. I find it really sexy.’
The latest Sin City: A Dame To Kill For trailer was shown in its full uncensored version last weekend at Comic Con.
The 3-minute long trailer is shot in a black and white comic book style and we have the proper uncensored, red band, Comic Con version below for you to watch.
Of course as well as the lovely Eva the trailer also shows some of the movie’s other stars including Jessica Alba, Jamie Chung and Rosario Dawson. Jessica is once again playing the role of exotic dancer Nancy Callahan and in one scene set in a strip club you can see her showing off her great body in a beaded bra and matching hotpants.
Although the movie is shot in black and white the film noir theme is given an added dimension by Eva Green’s title character being shown wearing blood-red lipstick.
If the trailer wets your appetite for the movie then you haven’t got that long to wait as Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is released in both the UK and the US in 22 August.
