Nearly Time For A Tumble With Sarah Harding, Lucy Mecklenburgh And Andrea Mclean – the BBC today confirmed the line-up for their upcoming new gymnastics reality show with a group photo of the celebrities who will be taking part.
As well as Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud, Luck Mecklenburgh of TOWIE and Loose Women presenter Andrea Mclean there will be a number of other stars attempting to learn some new acrobatic and circus skills to perform live on BBC television.
From the world of music joining Sarah Harding are Amelle Berrabah from Sugababes and Ian ‘H’ Watkins from Steps. From television, joining Lucy and Andrea, come Emma Samms from Dynasty, John Partridge from Eastenders and Bobby Lockwood from teen-fantasy show Wolfblood. Derrick Evans better known as tv fitness instructor Mr Motivator was to have been part of the new series but has been ruled out due to suffering a knee injury whilst rehearsing a vault for the show. As a result of the injury Evans had to have surgery to repair a ruptured tendon. BBC producers have not yet decided whether to bring in a last minute replacement or just continue with one fewer competitor.
Strangely today’s publicity photo still shows Mr Motivator as being in the starting line-up. Do the BBC not own a copy of Photoshop?
Joining the actors and singers will be one man who is well used to the level of training that will be required to compete on the show. Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch is the current WBA and IBF super-middleweight boxing champion of the world. The 37-year old is undoubtedly very fit but just how well his particular brand of fitness will translate to the world of gymnastics and circus skills we will have to see.
The new show will be presented by Alex Jones and the judging panel will consist of gymnast Craig Heap, Olympic gymnast and Strictly winner Louis Smith, cirque artist Sebastien Stella as well as one of the greatest Olympic gymnasts of all-time, Nadia Comaneci. Acting as a mentor to the celebrities will be the former World Champion gymnast and London 2012 bronze medalist Beth Tweddle. As well as her sporting career Beth did of course take part in ITV reality sports programme Dancing On Ice, winning the 2013 series with partner Daniel Whiston.
Tumble will be shown on BBC 1 starting 9 August and should make great watching as it comes from the team behind Strictly Come Dancing.
