The Britain’s Got Talent judge will start her temporary role in September this year, joining co-host Philip Schofield on the This Morning couch every Monday to Thursday morning. Holly is obviously keen to keep working as long as possible as her baby (which will be her 3rd child) is actually due in October.
Amanda is understandably pleased at landing the morning presenting role albeit that it is just a temporary job. She said today: ‘I’m over the moon to get the chance to present one of my favourite shows on TV and I’m thrilled to be keeping Holly’s seat on the sofa warm when she goes off on maternity leave. I have always been a huge fan of This Morning and love presenting with Phillip so I really can’t wait to get started.’
Amanda is not the only one pleased that she has secured the job as Holly’s This Morning maternity stand-in as the show’s executive producer Emma Gormley said ‘Amanda is a great talent with warmth and charisma in abundance. We are thrilled to have her join the This Morning family.’
Whilst Amanda is covering the major portion of Holly’s maternity leave Christine Bleakley is also going to cover some of the presenter’s This Morning slots. Rumour has it that This Morning co-host Philip Schofield had been pushing for Christine, his Dancing On Ice co-host, to become his temporary morning partner but Amanda got the bigger portion of time covering for Holly due to her greater popularity with the viewers.
Christine did of course replace Holly once before when she took over her Dancing On Ice role in 2011 when Holly moved on to host The Voice and Christine had just been sacked from her presenting role on ITV’s Daybreak programme.
Certainly Amanda Holden has done wonders for her public profile during her time working as a judge on BGT and her choice of sexy outfits on the show has also helped endear her to the viewing public. She is seen as having a warmer personality than Bleakley who often appears a little reserved, almost shy.
You can see from their respective reactions, or in Christine’s case non-reaction, on Twitter that Amanda is much the more pleased at today’s news.
This was immediately retweeted by Amanda Holden but as of tonight there has been no comment whatsoever from Christine Bleakley.
