Talking about how men react to her when they see her in a club, Emily sounds a little unimpressed as she shares her disappointment that they seem to be either overwhelmed or strikingly unoriginal.
‘Guys will say, “You know who you look like…,” and then the word spreads. Or guys do this thing where they go, “I would love to take a picture of you for my friend.” And then they get out their phone and their hand’s shaking, and I’m like, “You’re taking this for your friend? I thought you didn’t care.’
Emily is currently single so whatever lines she has heard in recent weeks certainly don’t seem to have worked.
Talking about her topless appearance in the Robin Thicke video she says that the 1 day shoot has changed her life although she admits now that she almost didn’t take the job. In fact it took the video’s director to convince her to take the role. Blurred LInes was directed by the highly experienced music video director Diane Martel who has worked directing videos for many top artists including Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Sting, Natalie Imbruglia and Beyonce to name just a few of her previous collaborations.
Although it wasn’t just Emily who was topless in the Blurred Lines video neither of the other 2 models (Elle Evans and Jessi M’Bengue) have received anything like the massive exposure that followed for the 23-year old English-born model.
Apart from Emily’s undoubtedly stunning looks the controversial nature of Blurred Lines may also account for the huge reaction she received. As well as the topless version of the video being banned by YouTube the song was also banned from a number of universities for its supposed references to sex and consent (or lack of it).
Thicke’s manager, Jordan Feldstein was delighted by the video going viral and its subsequent banning saying: ‘I knew it would get it banned quickly. Getting something banned actually helps you.’
The Blurred Lines video certainly got Emily at least one part in a movie as Ben Affleck said of their search to find a woman to play the role of femme fatale Andie in his film Gone Girl. As Affleck and director David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network) were discussing the sort of woman they were looking for Ben Affleck said ‘Yeah, like the girl in the Blurred Lines video.’
The last few months have also seen Emily get her first appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and we are guessing it won’t be her last.
The latest GQ photos were taken on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui. We are pretty sure that Emily is delighted with the new pictures as he has used one of the photos of her appearing naked against the black Maui sand as the new background for her Twitter account.
You can read the full interview as well as seeing all those photos of Emily in the latest edition of GQ which is available for purchase now.
