Elodie Yung Makes A Good Impression In New Movie – although she is little known outside her native France at the moment it seems that we could be hearing and seeing a lot more of Elodie Yung in the future.
The stunning looking 33-year old actress is of French-Cambodian parentage and despite being well-known in France, primarily for her work on several tv series, she is probably only familiar to those who have seen the US version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. In this movie she played a character called Miriam Wu who is the lesbian lover of lead character Lisbeth Salander. In the original book and the movie adaptation Miriam is also of mixed French/Asian parentage and is a martial arts expert. This made Elodie ideal for the part as her parents as her parents wanted to ensure she was protected growing up in a rough district of Paris and made her take karate classes. Elodie subsequently reached the rank of karate black belt.
As well as beauty and a killer karate chop, Elodie also has brains, having graduated from the University of Paris with a Masters in law
She looks to be getting her Hollywood big break in the new Gerard Butler movie Gods of Egypt, which also stars Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech) and the Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones). The movie is not surprisingly set in Ancient Egypt and Elodie, who is a late addition to the cast, will be playing the part of the Ancient Egyptian Goddess Hathor, who is amongst many other roles the goddess of fertility, motherhood, love and beauty.
Gods of Egypt has just started filming on location in Sydney, Australia and the movie is likely to be coming out some time in early 2016.
From the look of these early location shots we think that Miss Yung could become quite a regular sight on film sets over the next few years.
