As part of the promotional activity for the day Kat and Beth appeared on Extra and spoke to host Mario Lopez about the new series. Kat wore a very revealing lace top that showed off her large cleavage and should ensure that the new series gets plenty of attention.
The new series sees a change of air time for 2 Broke Girls as it moves to the popular 8pm slot replacing How I Met Your Mother which has now finished after a successful 9 year run. To mark the first episode Kat Dennings live tweeted throughout the show.
The new series of 2 Broke Girls has gained some extra publicity this last few weeks after a blogger who was in the studio audience wrote that guest star Lindsay Lohan had produced a less than stellar performance on the show. Both Kat and Beth quickly took to social media to defend Lindsay and said that there was no truth to the story and Lohan had been well prepared for her part and as well as being professional was nice to the entire cast and crew.
Last night’s episode featured Lohan as a nervous and high-maintenance bride who has trouble deciding on the wedding cake she wants for her big day. The episode has plenty of slapstick moments and although Lohan hams up the bridal role in truth she actually has a lot fewer lines than either Kat or Beth’s characters.
The strapline for this episode may be “it’s all about the cake” but in fact despite the pre-episode publicity about Lohan’s guest appearance on 2BG it is actually all about Caroline and Max, just as it should be.
Although it has rarely been praised by the critics, 2 Broke Girls has been a popular choice with US viewers as can be seen by CBS moving it into HIMYM’s 8pm slot. It has consistently done better in People’s Choice type awards than in critic nominated awards and its viewing figures have been very good.
The latest series continues on CBS until 5 May. The network has already confirmed in March this year that the show will return for a 4th series.
