In recent days Jennifer has also talked about how she finds the way that young girls are portrayed in the entertainment industry ‘disgusting.’
She said: “I don’t really worry about it. It’s definitely something that’s just kind of a part of this world. It is a part of the entertainment industry that sells. Sex sells, and for some disgusting reason young sex sells even more.”
She also talked about the way the industry has a duty in terms of presenting body image to young women. She talked about how she discussed how her Hunger Games character Katniss Everdeen should look whilst keeping in mind the plot dictated to an extent that she was likely to be a little undernourished.
Whilst talking to BBC’s Newsnight programme Jennifer was happy to discuss the circumstances behind her sexy set of photos for GQ magazine that were taken when she was just 20-years old.
She said that as far as the photos were concerned she was quite comfortable with them and that she didn’t have any regrets about the photos as they were basically taken as a PR stunt for the movie she was doing at the time.
That movie was of course the X Men: First Class and Jennifer played the role of Mystique a mutant who changed her colour. The role required the actress to send a lot of time in make-up each day before she was ready to go on set. At the time she talked about the preparation for the part of Mystique saying of the make-up team on the movie: ‘Those girls and I got so close. They were painting me naked every day for months. It was kind of like going to a really bizarre sleepover. It’s what you guys imagine we do: One naked girl and seven pairs of hands all over her.’
Jennifer can of course be seen in the soon to be released Hunger Games: Catching Fire which has been having a number of premieres in the last few days.
There are likely to be several other opportunities to catch up with Jennifer on the big screen in the coming months as she is already filming the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, the sequels to Catching Fire, and she also has a return to the role if Mystique in X-Men Days Of Future Past, which is due for release next year.
