Rachel clearly knew that her time was up as she was placed against her friend Abbey Clancy in the dance-off and even though Rachel had improved her dancing over the last week or two her scores have never matched those of Abbey.
The judges could not keep their surprise and annoyance to themselves as even head judge Len Goodman said to Abbey when she was announced as the first person in the dance-off ‘I can’t quite believe that the audience at home have put you in this position.’
Abbey went first in the dance-off and if anything she produced an even better performance of the rumba that got a total score of 34 points from the judges with Bruno saying on Saturday night that the model was ‘here to stay.’
Rachel looked resigned to her fate but said to Strictly host Tess Daly that she was determined to enjoy what was probably going to be her last dance on the show.
She and dance partner Pasha Kovalev also produced a better version of their dance than they did on Saturday’s show but alas for the Countdown girl that clock could be heard in the background signalling the end to her Strictly career.
And so it was when Tess went to hear the decision of the judges with all 4 opting to choose Abbey.
So on Monday it is back to the day job on Countdown (and the Gadget Show) for Rachel but for any new fans she has made do not get too disheartened because Rachel is one of the few celebrities to have appeared on Strictly who are almost more covered up on the show than they are normally. It is certainly worth tuning into the Countdown word and numbers show on C4 in the afternoons to catch a look of the lovely Miss Riley even if you don’t think you enjoy the game. Here below are some photos of Rachel on the show and as you can see from the outfits we may have missed a treat by her getting voted off this early.
Although the latest ratings show that Strictly has moved several million viewers ahead of the X Factor it has not been all good news for the show this week as news emerged that Ola Jordan had been “bullied’ by fellow dance professional Karen Hauer, who is partnering Dave Myers in this series. According to the Mail Karen had said to Ola that she was ‘a rubbish dancer’ and this was why she was always placed at the back. After intervention by the Strictly management team Karen made an apology and Ola was persuaded to stay on the show.
