Brucie Is Out and Claudia Is In On Strictly This Week – after being the subject of much speculation as to whether Sir Bruce is still up to the Strictly presenting job he will be missing this week’s Saturday show after apparently going down with the flu.
The official BBC spokesperson said today: ‘Sir Bruce Forsyth has the flu and therefore isn’t feeling well enough to present tomorrow’s Strictly Come Dancing on BBC1. The show looks forward to his return next week.’
With Brucey not well enough to take on his Strictly role this week it has fallen to the quirky, bubbly Claudia Winkleman to take his place. This is no surprise to any Strictly regulars as Claudia has a long Strictly pedigree, hosting the results show with Tess Daly and previously being the presenter of BBC2’s midweek Strictly show, Strictly – It Takes Two.
It should be another good show this Saturday as the Strictly dancers all try to avoid being the first pairing to be voted off this year’s series.
On the basis of what we saw last week it would seem that the most likely celebrities to be axed in the first round of voting are Tony Jacklin, Dave Myers or Julien Macdonald. On entertainment value the public is quite likely to keep Hairy Biker Dave Myers in for a little longer if you look at the number of votes that John Sergeant, Russell Grant and Ann Widdecombe received for their less than technically accurate performances in earlier series.
As for the other two likely celebrities to face an early exit, Julien seemed to annoy not only the studio audience last week but also the judges and the presenters with his over the top personality. Tony on the other hand, although arguably not as good a dancer at this early stage, did win over some of those watching with his gentle style and pleasant manner.
There are some classic crowd-pleaser choices amongst this week’s dance tracks as the pairings have chosen music from Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Daft Punk and Aretha Franklin amongst others for their first dances to be voted on by the public.
You can catch all of the Strictly action together with Tess and Claudia on BBC1 tomorrow night from 6.20pm. The results show, which Bruce doesn’t present normally, follows on Sunday night from 7.20pm.
