The attractive news anchor has won many fans over the years and a Strictly inside source was quoted in today’s Daily Mirror as saying ‘she is the most popular thing on breakfast TV and is loved by millions.’
Susanna has already appeared in a Strictly routine as she appeared on a special charity fundraiser edition for Children In Need back in 2011. On that occasion she had Strictly dance professional Robin WIndsor as her partner and along with some other attractive news presenters, such as Sophie Raworth and Emily Maitlis, she made a very good impression on the viewers.
Susanna will be the latest in a long tradition of morning news presenters who have appeared on the BBC’s dance show. In fact Susanna’s morning co-presenter Bill Turnbull was on Strictly in 2005 when he was partnered with dance professional Karen Hardy.
Susanna herself has obviously talked with Bill about his full Strictly experience and said in an interview last year ‘Bill Turnbull has done the full one (Strictly) and if I had the opportunity to dance with Robin again I would not say no.’
Susanna is likely to enjoy wearing some of the skimpy Strictly outfits and has occasionally been criticised for showing too much cleavage whilst presenting a news programme. Susanna was quite stoical about the criticism and responded by saying “People seem to be shocked that women have breasts. There’ll be complaints about the fact that there is literally a shadow showing.”
We are likely to see a number of announcements from this year’s crop of Strictly celebs as time ticks away and we et nearer to the initial show pairing off the celebrities with their professional dance partners. As we have seen in earlier series this is a crucial moment as some pairings have famously led to romance and even marriage whilst other pairings have produced fireworks of an altogether different kind. Just read some of Brendan Cole and Lulu’s comments about their time working together on the show!
Presenter Vanessa Feltz is the first officially confirmed contestant for Strictly this year and this was announced on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 breakfast show yesterday morning. It was also revealed this week that former Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington would not be in the series despite her being asked to meet up with the show’s producers and having stated her enthusiasm for the show.
