The big winner of the evening was singer turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham who turned up for the evening with a much younger man on her arm. As husband David was away in America she arrived on the arm of her 14-year old son Brooklyn who was well turned out for the event in a smart dark suit. Victoria broke with her usual choice for red carpet events and instead of wearing something from her own fashion label wore a black scallop style top and trouser outfit from rival Belgian designer Margiela.
Victoria walked away with the night’s biggest award when Christopher Bailey presented her with the Woman of the Decade award.
Other winners included Rita Ora who won the Best Solo Artist award and Miranda Hart who was presented with her Best Writer award by diminutive comedian Ronnie Corbett, one of her comedy heroes.
The Saturdays picked up the Best Band award and clearly all enjoyed being able to dress up for the evening. The usually ever reliable Mollie King from the band did get some negative comments for her choice of outfit for the evening with some labelling it as a little trashy as the red dress gave the impression of revealing a lot of flesh although on closer inspection you could see that there was a nude coloured layer that protected her modesty. The outfit also featured a strange-looking thin belt that made it look like she was wearing a tape measure.
Another winner who got some poor reviews from the fashion bloggers was The Voice judge Jessie J who won the Editor’s Special Award but won no awards for her choice of evening for the outfit which was a royal blue tunic style trouser suit. This was matched with a pair of very gaudy looking gold coloured earrings.
