All of the show’s top stars were there so there was something for all the fans. With the main stars there is also something for fans of great legs (January Jones), great breasts (Christina Hendricks) as well as a special something for the ladies with the allegedly big fan of commando, Jon Hamm.
All the stars look a little different in real life to their on-screen characters but the biggest transformation comes from January Jones make-up and prosthetics team turning her into the much plumper Betty Francis. She revealed to talk show host Jimmy Fallon that for the last series it was taking around 7 hours to turn her into Betty but now the team has managed to trim the time down to under 3 hours for the latest series.
Her character Betty looked a million miles away from her appearance at the BAFTA party last night when 35-year old January wore a leather biker jacket and a little brightly coloured miniskirt.
The famously curvy Christina Hendricks was trying hard to keep her famous assets hidden away from the cameras last night but such a thing is obviously hard to do when you have breasts like her as despite wearing an almost frumpy dress with a very high neckline it still looked like there was plenty of cleavage there trying to make a break for it!
We will not post the earlier pictures of Jon Hamm when it was revealed that he had been asked to wear underwear on set as he was putting everyone off their work as some of those photos were definitely NSFW. In fact it has been said that Jon’s habit of going commando on set is the reason that lots of his shots show him either behind a desk or from the waist up.
Jon, who of course plays Don Draper in Mad Men, even received offers of free underwear for life from 2 of the top men’s underwear producers. Both Fruit Of The Loom and Jockey were both keen to attach themselves to his name and his allegedly impressive assets.
Also at last night’s Mad Men BAFTA party in Manhattan were Jessica Paré, who plays Don Draper’s second wife Megan and 13-year old Kiernan Shipka, who plays the part of Don and Betty’s daughter Sally. Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner also turned up for the special party. He previously worked on the superb HBO series The Sopranos before creating Mad Men. Amazingly despite The Sopranos winning the network a host of awards and some great viewing figures HBO didn’t pick up Mad Men and Weiner had to wait until AMC picked the series up.
Although not as big a success as it is in the US Mad Men still has a devoted following here in the UK and has won plenty of critical acclaim during its 6 series. Apart from the outstanding acting performances from the cast the show has also attracted a lot of interest for its brilliant depiction of fashion and design in 1960’s New York.
