Rumours have been circulating for a couple of days that Jennifer decided some time ago to wear the Italian designer for her big day.
One extra piece of evidence being quoted is that Jennifer wore a red backless Valentino gown to last month’s Oscars and this was apparently a thank you to the 80-year old designer for his work on her wedding dress.
If Jen has decided to wear Valentino on the big day then she will be in good company as only a short while ago Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway chose the designer for her wedding to Adam Shulman. After the very private wedding ceremony Valentino did release a sketch of Anne’s wedding gown (see photo below) which showed that the bottom of the dress was pink.
Also the Italian is the designer of choice for much of Europe’s royalty as in 1995 Princess Marie-Chantal chose the fashion house to design her wedding gown for her marriage to Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece. Valentino was also the choice for the nearest thing the US has to a Royal Family when former First Lady Jackie Kennedy chose the designer for her 1968 wedding to shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis.
Other big moments celebrated in a Valentino gown include Julia Roberts Best Actress Oscar win for Erin Brockovich in 2001 when she chose a black and white vintage Valentino dress for her big moment. This dress was recently voted as the most iconic Oscar look of all-time in a poll conducted by Canadian broadcaster CBC.
The source that has been talking to Grazia about Jennifer’s Valentino wedding dress plans has also revealed that the Italian will not have things all his own way on the wedding day as groom Justin Theroux has apparently chosen an Armani tuxedo.
If things are sorted as far as the wedding clothing is concerned then it seems that the venue might also be decided. It is looking very much like the pair has decided on a quiet private wedding in Hawaii which will be worlds away from the media circus that was Jennifer’s first wedding to Brad Pitt back in 2000.
