The two new faces this Christmas will be singer JB from JLS and Fabrice Muamba, the former Bolton Wanderers footballer who suffered a heart attack while playing in an FA Cup match against Tottenham in March this year. Fabrice has recently revealed that he turned down an approach from ITV to appear on Dancing On Ice.
Former celebrities returning to the show include newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, the winner of the first Strictly series in 2004 with pro partner Brendan Cole. There have always been rumours that the two were more than a little close during their time training and to avoid any embarrassment they have been paired with other dancers for this year’s Christmas Special.
Other former Strictly celebrities making a return this Christmas will include former runners-up Kara Tointon (no doubt she will be dancing with boyfriend Artem Chigvintsev) and Rachel Stevens who danced with Vincent Simone in the 2008 series.
Also returning to the Strictly dancefloor will be Kelly Brook who sadly had to leave the 2007 series early after her father Kenneth died from lung cancer part-way through the competition. Kelly has been seen dancing in a different style in the last few weeks as she has taken to the stage to perform nude with the French cabaret act Crazy Horse. Kelly obviously enjoyed her time on stage as she has said: ‘My whole Crazy Horse experience was really empowering and I feel really sexy.’
The other competitors this Christmas will include Chris Hollins, who won the 2009 series with Ola Jordan and Chelsee Healey who was partnered by Pasha Kovalev when she was a runner-up in last year’s series. The final celebrity is Colin Jackson who was a runner-up in 2005 when he danced with Erin Boag.
Although it has not yet been officially confirmed the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will almost certainly be shown on BBC1 on Christmas Day.
The 6ft 1in comedienne has almost made a career out of the fact that she looks far from glamorous and has often been mistaken for a man in the sketches in her BBC series Miranda.
She has been known to have been on a diet over the last few months and has been seen on a number of occasions cycling around town. She said last year that she aimed to lose around 3 stone during 2012 and it looks from the evidence in the Tatler photos that she has done just that.
Miranda apparently tired of the constant references to her size in the wake of the success of her tv series. She said: ‘As a woman, it seems you can’t just be a comedian, you’re always classed as something else too, whether that’s “beautiful”, “pint-sized”, “larger-than-life” or in my case “Hattie Jacques-esque”, “the giraffe”, “big”. ‘I’m quite a confident person in many ways, but there’s only so much you can hear about being compared to Hattie Jacques.’
For her new Tatler photoshoot Miranda got fully into the whole stylist thing although she did say that she refused to wear heels as with her height they would make her about 6ft 5in tall.
In case you are wondering that is a wig that Miranda is wearing in the photo here as her own hair is much shorter.
Although she must be delighted with the results of the photos Miranda said of her transformation: ‘I think it’s more Claudia Winkleman meets Samantha Cameron meets Princess Anne with added Cher.’
The new series of Miranda (the 3rd) is due to start next month on BBC1 and the edition of Tatler featuring Miranda goes on sale this Thursday.
