The survey was conducted by Lifestyle 247 who run bootcamps to give their clients bodies like those you would find in a professional athlete.
The summer of athletics certainly seems to have captured the UK public’s imagination and the survey found that 72% of women wanted a more athletic figure which may have something to do with the fact that 81% of men wanted to date a woman with an athletic figure.
The trend for women to want a stick-thin look seems to be disappearing fast as after Jessica Ennis the next two celebrities with the most admired bodies were Kelly Brook and Kim Kardashian, women that are best described as curvy and voluptuous.
There seems to be a new trend amongst women going to exercise classes to want a more sculpted athletic with defined abs and less of an emphasis on losing weight.
The very wonderful Miss Ennis looks like she may well be looking to defend her Olympic heptathlon title at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Her coach Toni Minichiello says she is unlikely to move away from her main event despite her running a 100m hurdles time that not only made her the fastest female hurdler in Europe but also would have given her a share of the gold medal in the 100m hurdles individual event at the 2008 Olympics.
Despite not seeming keen on making the 100m hurdles her main Olympic focus her coach did say that it was likely the Sheffield athlete would run in more individual events in next year’s Diamond League.
As well as being acknowledged as having the best celebrity body Jess Ennis has also today taken the award for European Athlete of the Year. She shared this honour with the double Olympic gold medal winning middle distance runner Mo Farah.
