The Fame perfume is infamously based on the molecular structures of blood and semen which originally worried some consumers that the product might smell less than pleasant. Gaga originally said that the perfume was to be based on her own blood molecules to give a sense of her being on the consumer’s skin. She also announced that the perfume would give the wearer the smell of “an expensive hooker.”
It turns out that the scent is based on the notes of belladonna, apricot, honey, saffron, Tiger Orchid and incense.
The perfume is also the first to come in black and uses special technology to make it invisible once the product is released from the bottle.
The arty black and white photo advertising Gaga’s Fame perfume shows a nude Lady Gaga wearing a mask and heels and has some Photoshopped muscle men placed on her naked body. The advertising campaign and photo were the work of US photographer Steven Klein, who has previously worked extensively with Madonna as well as working on an Armani Jeans campaign with Rihanna last year.
The 30ml size Eau de Parfum sells for around £23 with the 100ml size costing £55. Both sizes come in a distinctive black and gold bottle which has gold claws coming down from the top.
