The singer’s spokesperson said: “LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30 day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress.”
“While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”
Rimes’ rehab stint started just a day after she celebrated her 30th birthday on Tuesday. The singer and her husband, actor Eddie Cibrian, have been seen celebrating her birthday at a number of venues over the last few weeks with the last celebration taking place over a meal at Nobu in Malibu.
There has been speculation that the singer has been suffering with an eating disorder but this has been flatly denied by both Rimes and her management team. Although she has only just had her 30th birthday she has been a star for over half her life with her breakthrough coming at the age of just 13-years old with the song Blue.
Quite unusually LeAnn has said that she will be leaving the rehab treatment facility for 3 of the weekends in September to enable her to play some concert dates.
LeAnn is also currently working on Spitfire, her 12th studio album, which is due to be released in the next few months and will be accompanied by a US tour.
So far the singer has sold around 40 million albums and won 2 Grammys as well as a number of other awards.
Rimes’ own comment on her rehab check-in was: “This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be.”
