The  World’s Highest Paid Celebrities – even though her earnings have fallen by $125 million over the last year Oprah Winfrey still tops the Forbes list of the World’s Highest Paid Celebrities for the 4th year in a row.

Even back in 2004 Oprah’s worth was reckoned to be around $1 billion and she has added to it considerably since then. She finished her top-rated show a year ago after a 25 year run but still managed to earn an estimated $165 million in the last 12 months.

She owns Harpo Productions which is behind Dr Phil, the Dr Oz Show and Rachael Ray, has her own magazine, O, and also has a cable network called OWN with shows such as Oprah’s Lifeclass.

In 2nd place in the list is a man little known here in the UK, movie director Michael Bay. He is the man behind the very successful 3-D movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Although not a critical winner the 3rd film in the Transformers series has so far taken an amazing £1.1 billion at the box-office.

Bay himself earned a healthy share of the box-office profits as well as also gaining from the big spin-off from the movie, the sale of Transformers toys. All together Michael Bay is estimated to have earned himself around $160 million in the last year.

At 3rd place in the list is a man that everyone has heard of, director Steven Spielberg. His 2 big movies, War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin were joined by Dreamworks’ new television shows such as Terra Nova to give him an estimated income of $130 million.

After seeing this list of mega-earners we guess that film school courses might become more popular because in 4th place is movie maestro Jerry Bruckheimer. His big winner this last year was Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which took around $1 billion at the box-office. This helped Jerry to take home a very healthy $115 million over the last 12 months.

At 5th place in the list comes rapper and record producer Dr Dre. However it is in his role as a businessman that he has seen his income rise to a huge $110 million over the last year. Dr Dre (real name Andre Young). In August he sold a 51% stake in Beats by Dr Dre, a company he owns jointly with Jimmy Iovine, to the mobile handset manufacturer HTC, and earned a healthy $100 million from the deal.

Beats by Dr Dre were often seen being worn by swimmers and athletes at the 2012 London Olympics despite not being one of the sponsors for the Games. They adopted what has been described as a guerilla marketing campaign and sent out specially designed Dr Dre headphones directly to the athletes. The biggest exposure for the brand came at the pool where many swimmers walked into the arena wearing a special set of the headphones. One big winner came with a big increase in sales in China after Chinese world record-breaking swimmer Sun Yang was shown repeatedly wearing different sets of Beats by Dr Dre phones.
