As well as the 30-year old singer, who is currently playing Princess Fiona in the West End musical Shrek, Kimberley is likely to be joined by Olympic cycling hero Victoria Pendleton, Texan supermodel Jerry Hall, Westlife singer Nicky Byrne, former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan, Eastender’s Sid Owen, Fern Britton and Sian Williams.
Of Kimberley’s link to the show, a source from Strictly told the Daily Mirror: “When we heard she was interested we were thrilled.
“Now everyone’s dying to see her moves. She’s a great name to have got.”
Girls Aloud are getting a lot of media attention at the moment as they are strongly tipped to get together for a special concert to mark their 10th anniversary.
The BBC have been said to be very keen to have a strong Olympic link with the contestants in the next series and other names tipped to appear include Olympic swimming star Rebecca Adlington and the man viewed by many as our top Olympian of all-time, Sir Steve Redgrave. Also mentioned as a possible contestant is Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle.
Much less likely to join the Strictly team is Prince Harry, who judge Craig Revel Horwood says would make a great addition to the show. Speaking to the Daily Telegraph Craig said: “I would love to see him on Strictly.”
“Maybe, if it were a charity event, we might be able to convince him. He gives it large and he’s just amazing.”
Prince Harry is reported to have just been dumped by his girlfriend Cressida Bonas after she was said to be very embarrassed by his nude antics in Las Vegas.
The new series of Strictly Come Dancing is set to start next month so there is not long to wait to find out the full line-up for this year’s series.
