The Hottest Looking Olympic Stars – now the medals have been settled and the Olympics have finished for another 4 years we need to know who were viewed as the hottest looking athletes at the London 2012 Games.
Several sites have their favourites but the general consensus of opinion is that the Paraguayan javelin thrower Leryn Franco is seen by most people as the sexiest competitor at this year’s Olympics, as in fact she was at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. `Does this make Leryn Franco the Usain Bolt of hotness?
Apart from the fact that she won the “hot” award at the last Olympics as well the other reason we are not surprised that 30-year old Franco won the poll is that she is a former runner-up in the Miss Universo Paraguay competition, she models lingerie and she was in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
Leryn did not make it to the final of the javelin this time as she could only manage to finish in 18th place during her qualifying round. She did not seem too disappointed however and speaking before the 2012 Games began she was realistic about her chances. Speaking to Yahoo Sports she said: “I am not expecting a medal. The competition is very strong and there are athletes who are stronger than me. But I treat it seriously and I want to do my personal best. For me the best reward is just to be here. Getting to the Olympics is like a medal for me.”
In 2nd place in the 2012 Hot stakes was US swimmer Ryan Lochte. Lochte had a great 2012 Games winning 5 medals and looking odds-on to be the most likely replacement in the US team for the one man medal machine that is Michael Phelps. After showing off his chiselled body it looks like Ryan may get some time off from early morning swim sessions while he looks at some offers from US reality programmes Dancing With The Stars and The Bachelor.
In 3rd place comes our very own Jessica Ennis, UK’s golden girl and the poster girl of the London Olympics. After her stunning victory in the heptathlon it seems like her looks and in particular those abs of hers got plenty of praise as well as her points total.
Other athletes who scored well in the 2012 Olympics Hot stakes include another UK heptathlete Louise Hazel, Canadian women’s footballer and part-time model Lauren Sesselmann, Team GB cycling hero Victoria Pendleton, Italian beach volleyball star Marta Menegatti, French modern pentathlete Elodie Clouvet, Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova and US women’s footballer Alex Morgan.
In the main 2012 Olympics competition the final medal table showed the top 5 nations as:
- United States: 46 Gold Medals
- China: 38 Gold Medals
- Great Britain & Northern Ireland: 29 Gold Medals
- Russian Federation: 24 Gold Medals
- South Korea: 13 Gold Medals
