New Sacha Baron Cohen Movie will be James Bond spoof – Paramount Studios are getting behind a new Sacha Baron Cohen and Phil Johnston idea for a spoof version of our UK movie hero and the Queen’s co-star from the Olympics Opening Ceremony, James Bond.
Variety magazine is saying that the pair behind this year’s Dictator movie have sold the as yet untitled project to Paramount and the film will feature a ‘James Bond-like spy’ who goes on the run with his long-lost brother described as ‘a moronic soccer hooligan’.
Although Baron Cohen has not yet conformed his availability to star in the movie you can bet that he won’t pass up the opportunity to play one or both of the major roles.
Baron Cohen has recently been involved in the new movie production of Les Miserables where he plays the role of Monsieur Thénardie but he has had to take some time away from the set after overworking his vocal cords on set.
Bond has appealed to spoof writers before with several versions of the superspy available to watch on the big screen with films such as Our Man Flint (1966), Johnny English (2003) and Get Smart (2008 movie and 1960’s tv series).
When it comes to the real thing Bond fans will soon have the option to watch their hero all day and all night as Sky have announced the launch of Sky Movies 007, a new 24-hour channel dedicated to screening the original Bond movies in high-definition for a month beginning from 05 October this year.
