The pair tied the knot in a small private ceremony at their home in Austin, Texas. There were no problems for guests negotiating traffic on the wedding day as they all had their own luxury tents with air-con and patio which they stayed in at the couple’s ranch following Friday night’s pre-wedding party.
It was obvious that McConaughey and Alves wanted a private ceremony as it has been reported that even some of the guests were not aware they were going to a wedding until they arrived at the ranch.
Matthew popped the question to Camila on Christmas Day. The couple have lived together for 6 years and have two children together, 3.-year old son Levi and 2-year old daughter Vida.
42-year old McConaughey is best known these days as a rom-com star with appearances in such movies as The Wedding Planner, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.
30-year old Alves was born in the Brazilian city of Itambacuri and started her career as a model having moved to live and work in America at the age of 15. She now also sells the Muxo line of mens and womens leather bags that she and her mother design and create. She has also worked in tv in the US, hosting the 2010 hair styling reality show Shear Genius.
She and Tom Cruise wowed the crowds when they turned up for the premiere of their new movie Rock Of Ages. The movie is an adaptation of the 2006 smash Broadway musical of the same name. The film follows the relationship between Drew and Sherrie, played by Diego Boneta and Julianne Hough, and features the glam-rock music of the 1980’s with tracks from Europe, Foreigner, Guns N’Roses and Bon Jovi.
In the movie Catherine plays the part of Patricia Whitmore, wife of the mayor of LA, who wants to shut down The Bourbon Room where both Drew and Sherrie work.
As well as singing the classic Starship track We Built This City together with Russell Brand Catherine also has a solo number in the film singing the Pat Benatar number Hit Me With Your Best Shot.
She must be relieved to get back into the movies as she has had a terrible couple of years with husband Michael Douglas being diagnosed with throat cancer and also being treated herself for bipolar disorder.
Talking about the last 2 years Catherine said: “I am doing extremely well. There is a nothing quite like being hit by a two-by-four and it was one of those years that was like, ‘These things don’t happen to us…’
“But the reality is that they are happening to so many people all around the world, and we are no different to them, and it gives us a new appreciation of what we can do and how strong a relationship can be.
“And the sweeter things in life are much sweeter.”
As well as her role in Rock of Ages Catherine also has another movie out in the next few weeks. She plays the part of Tulip Heilowitz, a Las Vegas cocktail waitress, in Lay The Favourite, which also stars Bruce Willis, Rebecca Hall and Vince Vaughn.
Oscar-winning Catherine is certainly keen to make up for lost time as she will also be seen in the next few months in two other movies, Broken City and Playing The Field and is currently filming another film The Bitter Pill which also stars Rooney Mara and Jude Law.
Rock of Ages can be seen at UK cinemas from this Wednesday (13 June). Lay The Favourite is due to be released here on 22 June.
