Florence beat off very strong competition from lady of the moment Adele to win Best Solo Artist and said that it was still not sure herself if the act was a band or she was indeed a solo artist but either way she would not be giving the award back.
She also won the award for Best Track for her single “Shake It Out”. Florence actually performed a cut down version of the song at the awards show and also performed with The Horrors on a version of their song “Still Life.”
She turned a few heads with her choice of outfit on the night, wearing a black and white suit with flower design and flecked with gold. As well as design being unusual the suit also had shortened length trousers and rolled back sleeves.
Other winners on the night included Kasabian for Best British Band, Foo Fighters for Best International Band, The Vaccines for Best New Band and Arctic Monkeys won Best Live Band. Special awards went to Pulp for their Outstanding Contribution to Music and Noel Gallagher took home the award of Godlike Genius. Gallagher received tributes from Paul Weller and Ray Davies who both praised his contribution to music.
The 2 non-music awards of the night went to Jared Leto from 30 Seconds To Mars who was voted Hottest Male and Hayley Williams of Paramore who was voted Hottest Female.
Emma Watson In More Adult Movie Role – the former Harry Potter star is joining other former Hogwarts pupils in making a deliberate move away from her earlier roles as she is announced as a cast member in the latest Sofia Coppola movie.
The new movie “Bling Ring” is based on the real-life story of a group burglars who break into the homes of Hollywood celebrities. The original burglars operated in LA around 2008 and 2009 and amongst many other celebrities they famously broke in to Paris Hilton’s home.
Coppola said: “I’m excited about the young cast we’re assembling and I’m looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles.” She is used to help people break away from younger roles into more mainstream films having previously worked with both Scarlett Johansson (Lost In Translation) and Elle Fanning (Somewhere).
It’s a busy time for Emma for as well as studying at Oxford University she has also fitted in acting work on My Week With Marilyn, the soon to be released Perks of Being a Wallflower as well as this new Coppola film,
She will be hoping that she can make as successful move into more mature roles as Daniel Radcliffe who is riding high with Woman In Black at the moment and has also received good reviews for his stage role in Equus where he had to appear naked.
Emma has made one big move away from her long time role as Hermionne as she has got a lot of good press for her great sense of style.
