The album appeared on a number of file sharing sites and some of the group’s fans then tweeted how much they loved the music. Jules de Martino posted in response: “Lot’s of people getting a listen of our new record… Miraculously?”
This second album “Sounds From Nowheresville” is a follow-up to the duo’s Number 1 debut “We Started Nothing.” It was originally set to be released on 27 February but the duo are begging their record label Columbia to release it now before most of their fans get hold of a copy for free.
The other member of the duo, Katie White, said of the album: “We’re just our own thing – we’re neither ‘indie-cool’ nor mainstream pop, and we’ve never been part of a scene. ‘Sounds From Nowheresville’ is a perfect title for the new album.”
The notorious 2nd album has proved to be just as hard work for the Ting Tings as many other groups in the past with their first attempt, an album called Kunst, being shelved when de Martino and White were unhappy with the results. They said of this aborted album: “I think people would rather we make an album that we’re happy with, so we just said ‘Stop!'”
Although they have had great success with their albums and singles it is as live performers that the duo have attracted the biggest number of fans. Back in 2008 they won Best Festival Pop Act, Best Newcomer and Anthem of the Summer in the UK Festival Awards.
The first clue to the possible reunion was given by Mel B when she was asked about a possible Spice Girls performance at this year’s Olympics. She said: “Ooh, I think the Queen’s Jubilee concert is the event I’d be looking at more closely for that to happen.” She then quickly tried to change the subject saying that she would be in a lot of trouble for her off the cuff comment.
It appears that while Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell are up for it that it is Victoria Beckham who may prove to be the stumbling block to any Spice Girls reunion this year. She is saying that her fast growing fashion business and family commitments are preventing her from having time to fit in the concert.
Although she has said through the usual “source close to” that she has no time for the event we should remember that the Beckhams are friends with Prince William and Kate and they may well provide some gentle persuasion for Victoria to perform at the Royal event this summer.
The concert is set for 04 June (the Queen’s Official Birthday) and is being organised by Take That and X Factor man Gary Barlow. The concert is sure to be a hugely popular event and tickets will be available to the public in a special ballot. If you are not successful in the ballot then fear not as the event is being televised by the BBC.
