Pottermore – not often that a website is the top trender of the day. Pottermore is a new website which has launched today and as you may guess from the title it is a Harry Potter site. It is sponsored by Sony and sells e-book and audiobook version of all 7 Harry Potter books as well as providing an extra 18k words of new material. After completing a quiz based registration users get the chance to explore locations in the books and will get sorted into the different houses. Have a look if you are a fan, you might get hooked.
J K Rowling – like buses wait for ages and you get 2 Harry Potter stories come along at once. Perhaps it is no coincidence the launch date of the Pottermore site is today as not only is it Harry Potter’s birthday but also Jo Rowling’s. Earlier this year her fortune was estimated by Forbes magazine as approximately US$1 billion. Your best way to keep up with her is on her official website as she does not have a Twitter, Facebook or MySpace account although as you will see from her comments there are several “J K Rowling” fakes out there on social networking sites.
Pixie Lott – English singer who wins almost as many “hottest woman” style awards as she does music awards. Pixie is currently at Part in the Park, where she also appeared last year. If you are not lucky enough to be there today then treat yourself to Pixie’s cover of the Kings of Leon classic “Use Somebody”.
Bikinis – another sign that summer is here is people searching for beachwear/swimwear. The little 2 piece classic named back in 1946 after Bikini Atoll in the Pacific. The first person to wear the bikini was a French model called Michèle Bernadini and you can see one of the pictures of the first bikini here. A bit racier than you might have thought for 1946 isn’t it? We guess that most of you are looking to buy a bikini rather than wanting a history lesson so have a look at the La Senza site where you can browse amongst the 13 different styles of bikini on offer. It appears from what we have seen so far that high-waisted bikinis are likely to be popular this year. This will be a relief to anyone not feeling comfortable in the cut-away style outfits that were popular during last summer.
