Dukan diet – the creator of the diet has just lost a libel case in France. Another doctor in France had claimed that only the slimming industry, doctors and publishers had benefited from the diet. Although Pierre Dukan lost the case it has been explained that the case was not based on the scientific results of the diet, which was followed by the Middleton family in the run up to the Royal Wedding. The diet starts off by concentrating on 72 high-protein foods such as fish and non-fat yoghurts and Dr Dukan claims that 40% of people following his diet never regain the weight making it twice as successful as other diets. 14 day sandwich – a sandwich has been developed which has a 14 day shelf life. Booker, which has developed the range, says that it will be available in chicken tikka, tuna and mayonnaise and cheese and onion and all fillings will be served on oatmeal bread which lasts longer than other standard sorts of bread. The range will sell at £1.49 and the extended shelf life is partly down to using stable ingredients but the biggest impact on the shelf life is made by removing oxygen from the packaging and replacing it with nitrogen and carbon dioxide.
