Myleene Klass, Mel B, Lingerie – What’s Hot and What’s Trending 30 May 2011

30 May

Alberto Contador – 28yr old Spanish cyclist who has just won the Giro d’Italia, which is the Italian equivalent of the Tour de France, a race which he has won 3 times. Inteerstingly Alberto’s last Tour de France win came in 2010 when he managed to win the Tour without ever winning any of the individual stages. Known as a climb specialist you can see more of Alberto on his official site

Myleene Klass – a real everywoman, tv presenter, model, singer, pianist, mother and fashion designer. On top of that she seems a really lovely person too. Soon to start a new website with programmes on parenting and babies. Sign up for details on her official website.

Cheap villas – summer should be on its way but the weather is making us look further afield. This search has been bubbling under the top searches for a few days now. If you are looking for cheap European villas try Owners Direct where you can rent a 3 bedroom property in France for £250 per week. If you are looking outside Europe then maybe try Holiday Rentals which amongst other destinations has around 19k properties in America to rent.

Jennifer Aniston – whatever she does almost certain to still be remembered as Rachel in Friends. The 42 yr old actress is meant to be dating “Your Highness” actor Justin Theroux and is soon to be seen in her hottest role in the movie “Horrible Bosses”. To get a peek at Jennifer in this film see this Marie Claire article.

Mel B – affectionately known as Scary Spice still, Mel should have been a top trender yesterday as it was her 36th birthday. After leaving the Spice Girls Mel has come 2nd in the US Dancing With The Stars and it has just been announced that she is to be one of the judges in the Australian version of X-Factor. See her singing Happy Birthday to herself yesterday on her own website.

Lingerie – well someone is having a good Bank Holiday break! A far sexier search than underwear, note that people do not search for cheap lingerie. If you are feeling like a treat then try the Agent Provocateur site.

The word lingerie comes from the Old French word linge meaning linen. The term was not in common use until the 1850’s and was originally used to describe scandalous underclothing.

It was not until 1935 that underwear manufacturer Warner Brothers introduced the concept of different cup sizes for women and the original bra came in 4 sizes, A, B, C and D.

The photo on the right shows a model in a modern day corset. The corset was originally introduced around the 16th Century and was often used to give a woman an exaggerated hourglass figure, sometimes narrowing a woman’s waist to as little as 16 inches.
